In 1993 Some Kids Remade JURASSIC PARK and It’s Just Adorable

With the release of Jurassic World, the internet is inundated with analysis, recap videos, and parodies. And while lines form for the newest installment of “Maybe a dinosaur park will work this time” films, it’s great to see the fandom of the series come to light in all sorts of ways.

We all know the first Jurassic Park film came out 22 years ago but little did we know it’s first remake was only a few months after that. In the summer of 1993, a few super fans of the film took their Jurassic Park toys, some colored pencils and more film knowledge than most of us have as adults and created their own version of the film.

David Chakrin and Michael Raisch (who became a film maker as an adult) did a spectacular job at recreating the iconic scenes from the movie. Using their JP toys, some 2x4s for roads, and hand drawn backdrops, the two were able to compress their favorite movie (at the time, we’re assuming) into a concise 6-minute film. Hitting all the vital plot points, the T-Rex paddock, Dennis Nedry’s embryo theft betrayal and ultimate demise (complete with “bleep bloop” computer noises) and the velociraptors’ attack on Ellie as she restored power to the park.

This re-make is the sort of thing that warms our hearts here at Nerdist.com — being so much of a fan of something that you just need to do anything to have a little piece of it to call your own. It’s great to think about the kids out there today remaking their favorite films and with Jurassic World out now, there just might be a new duo out there who will remake the latest film although chances are it’ll probably be made on Vine or Periscope or whatever dang kids are using these days.

The re-make is amazing, right!? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
