Image Comics Announces GREEN VALLEY, New Series by Max Landis

After a successful run with DC Comics’ Man of Steel with Superman: American Alien, screenwriter Max Landis is ready to jump back into world of comic books with a new creator-owned series called Green Valley. Best known as the writer of films like Chronicle and the criminally underrated American Ultra, Landis has always had a thing for comic books. For many of us, we first became aware of him from his viral video that explained The Death and Return of Superman in hilarious detail.

Green Valley is coming this October from Skybound Entertainment through publisher Image Comics. Details are light on the series as of right now, but we know Landis has been kicking it around for a while.

“Green Valley was an idea I had when I was a very little kid,” Landis said of the series in a press release. “As I got older, most of my ideas from when I was small sounded stupider and stupider. But Green Valley persisted in my mind, and grew. I’m glad to see it finally come to life so beautifully.”

So far, all we know is it’s about four disgraced knights looking for redemption through slaying dragons and wizards in a world that is especially light on magic and myth.

The art of Green Valley is being handled by the incredible Giuseppe Camuncoli who is best known for his work on Marvel’s Spider-Man. The preview pages — which you can check out below — look fantastic. Finely detailed and character-driven, Giuseppe Camuncoli’s storytelling and character work are probably the perfect fit for a Max Landis script. From the looks of that final page in the preview, we might be getting plenty of action in this series, too. With Camuncoli handling the art, you know Green Valley is gonna look great regardless of the content.

Here is the full creative team working on Green Valley:

Writer/Creator: Max Landis
Penciler: Giuseppe Camuncoli
Inker: Cliff Rathburn
Colorer: Jean-Francois Beaulieu
Letterer: Pat Brosseau

We’ll have to wait until October to get the full scoop, but Skybound is delivering a 40 page first issue for a $2.99 cover price, so make sure you add this one to your pull list. It’s a 9-issue limited series, so be ready for an epic story that has an end in sight. Plus, let’s be honest, that first issue will probably be a collector’s item because it seems like every Skybound property gets scooped up by a network and turned into a hit TV show. So get in early and poly-bag this bad boy. Come on, you know you want to.

Will you be picking up Green Valley? Let us know in the comments below.
