Idris Elba is JAMES BOND in New SPECTRE Mash-up Trailer

For years, British actor Idris Elba has been mentioned time and time again as an ideal candidate to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. Both Craig and his predecessor, Pierce Brosnan, have voiced their support for Elba as Bond. However, official James Bond novelist Anthony Horowitz recently caused a backlash when he said, “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”

Horowitz quickly walked back his comments and apologized. “I’m really sorry my comments about Idris Elba have caused offense. That wasn’t my intention,” wrote Horowitz. “Clumsily, I chose the word ‘street’ as Elba’s gritty portrayal of DCI John Luther was in my mind but I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offense.”

Elba’s response was about as smooth as it gets.

While it’s still unclear if Craig will actually step aside from his iconic role after Spectre is released this fall, Vulture decided not to wait around. In a new mash-up trailer created by Diane Bullock and Mike Schuster, footage of Elba from Luther, The Gunman, Takers, and the Spectre trailer are spliced together to create the illusion that Elba is James Bond in the current 007 movie. And aside from one clumsy paste of Elba’s head over Craig’s head, it totally works!

Would any real James Bond fan not see this version of Spectre?! This mash up also gets bonus points for using Ruth Wilson’s Alice Morgan as different type of Bond girl.

Spectre will be released in the U.S. on November 6.
