Humble Bundle Announces Rare Neil Gaiman Bundle

It’s been a pretty good year if you’re a fan of bestselling author Neil Gaiman. First off, his long-in-development television adaptation of his novel American Gods finally got off the ground with the Starz Network, and is set to go into production soon. Also, his long-awaited return to the world of The Dreaming at DC will soon be reaching its proper conclusion with the final installment of Sandman: Overture. On top of all that, Gaiman also had a novel publish this year: Eternity’s Wheel.

But now the folks at Humble Bundle, who sell digital content through very cool pay-what-you-want bundle promotions, are really about to make Neil Gaiman fans all over the world even happier campers, as they’ve just announced a team-up with Gaiman to make some of his rarest and most sought after works available digitally for the first time ever in the Humble Books Bundle: Neil Gaiman Rarities.

Included in this bundle are books published early in Gaiman’s career that have become valued collector’s items: never before collected works from anthologies, barely published books with small prints runs, and some never published at all. This includes short stories, essays, comics, music biography, poems, teleplays, prose fiction, and even lyrics and speeches. According to the folks at Humble Bundle, “if it’s in this bundle, chances are you’ve never read it.”

Fans who get this bundle can name their price for Adventures in the Dream Trade (essays, poems, lyrics, and the original American Gods blog), Gods & Tulips (a controversial 1993 speech, an essay on running signings, and a speech on comics), Free Speeches (speeches by Neil, Frank Miller, and others), Being An Account of the Life and Death of the Emperor Heliogabolous (a 24-hour comic, written & drawn by Neil Gaiman), and Angels & Visitations (a first collection of prose fiction, nonfiction, and poetry).

Those who pay more than the average price will also receive Ghastly Beyond Belief (Neil’s rare and never republished second book of oddball quotes), Day of the Dead (a fully annotated Babylon 5 script), An Honest Answer & Other Stories (a collaboration with Bryan Talbot and Dave McKean), Feeders & Eaters & Other Stories (collaborations with Mark Buckingham, including a comic about Alan Moore), Sweeney Todd & Other Stories (Neil’s lost, unfinished, never republished graphic novel with Michael Zulli), Neil Dreams (short comics of dreams, by and about Neil done by & with Rick Veitch), and the two controversial UK comics anthologies Outrageous Tales From The Old Testament, and Seven Deadly Sins, which also feature contributions from Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Dave McKean, Bryan Talbot and more.

Customers who pay above the average price by $15 or more will receive all of the above plus Duran Duran (a never before republished, rare debut book), Manuscript Found In A Milk Bottle (a never before reprinted short story with brand new intro) Love, Fishie (poems by Neil & Maddy Gaiman, limited edition of 100), and A Little Gold Book of Ghastly Stuff (an out of print and collectible book of short fiction, essays, and poems — many never before reprinted).

As is the case with all Humble Bundle purchases, customers can choose how their purchase dollars are allocated between the publisher and charity. Humble Books Bundle: Neil Gaiman Rarities supports the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and The Moth Education Program. All of Neil Gaiman’s personal proceeds from this bundle will benefit The Gaiman Foundation, a private foundation that funds free speech, education, and civil rights charities.

Humble Books Bundle: Neil Gaiman Rarities runs for two weeks and ends Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11AM PST. And even more items are going to be added to the bundle mid-promotion, on September 16.
