Darwinism is SUPER EFFECTIVE!

While there may be more science than you’d think to capturing a Pokémon, the game’s concept of evolution is a bit backwards. As shown in the video from Dorkly above, what is happening to our favorite pocket monsters is more of a metamorphosis than evolution. And even then, it’s likely that only BUG or amphibian-like Pokémon would ever experience something like that.

But don’t worry, Pokémon isn’t trying to be the most scientifically-grounded franchise; resurrecting a fossil and riding a dragon is part of the fun. And the video does a decent job of explaining the basics of biology’s unifying theory.

“Ah, it was just a terrible dream where science existed…Mom! I’m going out to resurrect a fossil! Can I borrow the dragon?”
