Is it too obvious that Rogue One hints to Rogue squadron, even though Rogue Squadron technically doesn’t exist anymore because of the EU purge?
Rogue squadron technically existed in A New Hope it was originally named Red Squadron. Starting in Empire Strikes back they start calling themselves Rogue Squadron. The name is canon still just nothing they did after Return of the Jedi.
