How It Should Have Ended Takes on CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Captain America: Civil War has emerged the victor of this year’s superhero cinematic showdown. Barring miracle box office returns from Suicide Squad or Doctor Strange, Civil War is going to be this year’s biggest film…at least until Rogue One hits theaters. Almost everyone here at Team Nerdist loved Civil War, but it was by no means a perfect movie. That’s where this week’s How It Should Have Ended comes in, humorously pointing out where the story had some problems.

For starters, why wouldn’t Vision be there for the mission in Lagos to take down Crossbones? And Spider-Man really did go out of his way to not say his most famous line in the film. One of the funniest scenes in this installment finds the Avengers laughing in General Ross’ face as he attempts to goad them into signing the Sokovia Accords.

It’s also fitting that Civil War gets three possible endings that range from a heartfelt apology, an unapologetic double-murder, and Bucky doing something very silly to keep his mind from being controlled. But we’re partial to the first option because it points out just how much of the villain’s ultimate plan relied on circumstance,

Of course, it wouldn’t be HISHE without a stop to see Batman and Superman at the Super Cafe, where Black Panther gets a great callback with Batman, Ant-Man makes some unfortunate discoveries, and Cap is once again mercilessly mocked for his ’60s theme song. Honestly, Iron Man’s theme from the ’60s was a lot worse!
