Hot Toys Limited has made its name for itself as one of the premiere makers of collectible, pop culture-based figurines. They have stellar figures for The Avengers, 300, Assassin’s Creed, Batman, and just about every other geeky franchise you can think of. And now that the biggest day other than Christmas is almost here, Hot Toys is now offering awesome figures based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
While the versions of Kylo Ren and the First Order stormtroopers are most impressive, the company’s newest figure of Daisy Ridley’s Rey proves why they are so beloved among collectors:
The attention to facial features is one of Hot Toys’ signatures, and this Rey figure is no exception. The Hong-Kong-based collectible designer has captured an uncanny likeness of actress Daisy Ridley. While she seems a little…bug-eyed at certain angles, it is definitely the closest any sculptor has come. This is exactly what makes the 1/6th scale collectible stand out against the rest of the Force Awakens figures — the stormtrooper and Kylo Ren figures are equally awesome, but sculpting a mask is not the same as having to sculpt a human face.
The Rey figure is sold with both her standard outfit and her scavenging gear, her staff, a blaster pistol, and beloved droid BB-8. The little astromech droid is also done in screen-worthy detail. The two figures can be bought together, or fans can purchase Rey on her own.
The Rey/BB-8 figures are expected to go on sale summer 2016, but fans can pre-order them now over at Sideshow Collectibles. The Rey figure on her own will run collectors about $225, while the addition of BB-8 will bring the price up to $290. When it comes to Hot Toys these prices are not unheard of, but be sure to save your credits. Let us know what you think of the figure in the comments below!
