Hot Pepper Interview Features Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida Talking NUCLEAR THRONE

It’s already hard enough to conduct and be part of an interview in a normal state of mind. You want to really get into the nitty-gritty and ask the most deep, meaningful questions as the interviewer. On the other side of the hypothetical table, you don’t want to slip up and answer poorly or even give out information you shouldn’t. Needless to say, the last thing you need to spice up the whole process is an actual, well, spice. If you aren’t already familiar, Hot Pepper Gaming is a YouTube channel that has people eat a Habanero Pepper before reviewing a game, or in this case being interviewed. Let’s just say, things get dicey pretty quickly. Just ask our very own Jessica Chobot, Dan Casey, and Malik Forté, who’ve all been featured on the show.

Recent victims… erm, participants were Anthony Carboni (host and writer) and Rami Ismail (Vlambeer studio) as they came together to talk about Nuclear Throne. This indie title is a top-down pixel art, action game about mutants who are constantly battling for a throne in a post-apocalyptic world. It didn’t take very long for the interview to be derailed by the ridiculously spicy pepper they decided to eat. Madness obviously ensues and it’s hilarious.

Halfway through the video, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s World Wide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment and great Twitter follow, joins the fray. He staggers to even construct full sentences as the pepper kicks in right away. It’s utterly brilliant.

Look, I’m not one to laugh at another’s pain, but they knew what they were getting themselves into. It’s part of the fun, so I deem it fair to laugh in this instance. But try not to laugh at other’s pain, please.

Most importantly though, Shuhei and Rami announced that the game will be releasing this September. Currently, the indie title is part of Steam early access and is on Mac and Linux, but you’ll be able to nab it on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, and PS Vita– and everyone said the Vita was dead. I’d say this was a great, fun way of getting the word out on this game. Smart move for the team behind Nuclear Throne.

As for Mr. Yoshida, this is why the PlayStation community and gamers in general have learned to love the PlayStation executive. He isn’t afraid of putting himself out there and getting involved with the passionate community. He plays ball, even if it means eating one hot pepper.

Are you interested in this game now? Who else would you like to watch be interviewed after making the horrible decision of eating an extremely spicy snack? Let us know in the comments section below.
