Horror Happenings: ALIEN Day, THE BYE BYE MAN, and more!

Welcome back to Horror Happenings, spooky Sunday friends! Today we’re telling you about a celebration of all things xenomorph that is coming your way later this month plus two very different but very creepy new trailers to feast your eyes upon. Let’s get to it!

Alien Day Coming On April 26

In space, no one can hear you scream. But on April 26 in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, Alamo Drafthouse invites you to make some serious noise as they celebrate Alien Day in honor of the 30th anniversary of Ridley Scott‘s iconic horror masterpiece.

The date April 26 is paying tribute, of course, to the desolate LV-426 featured in both Alien and Aliens. Each of these LV-426/Alien Day/4.26.16 screenings will be a unique event, featuring a host of Xenomorph mayhem, including custom video pre shows and a for-sale Mondo Alien T-shirt designed by Jay Shaw exclusively for Alien Day screenings. Mondo, the acclaimed collectible art boutique, created an exclusive, limited run T-shirt that pays tribute, of course, to the inimitable Ellen Louise Ripley. The shirt will only be available at the April 26 screenings – and after that, they’re gone, folks!

Alamo Drafthouse’s Alien Day celebration screenings of Aliens with Sigourney Weaver in attendance in New York City and Jenette Goldstein (Private Vasquez, Aliens) and Carrie Henn (Newt, Aliens) in attendance in Los Angeles, with an exclusive Mondo shirt available for attendees. Chicago will see a special double feature of Ridley Scott’s classic that started it all, Alien, paired with James Cameron’s exceptional follow up, Aliens, at The Music Box Theatre.

This First Teaser Shows Doug Jones as The Bye Bye Man

“Don’t think it, don’t say it…” The trailer for The Bye Bye Man certainly got a lot of people talking when it premiered this past week. Based on the short story “The Bridge to Body Island,” The Bye Bye Man tells the story of three college kids who stumble upon the origins of the terrifying supernatural source of all evil. But once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control. Is there a way to survive his possession? Watch the trailer below and decide for yourself!

The Bye Bye Man, directed by Stacy Title, starring Carrie Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, and Doug Jones, opens in theaters on June 3, 2016.

You Can’t Trust The Ones Below in New Trailer

And now for something completely different… A psychological thriller has to be one of the most challenging sub-genres to do well. The balance of creepy with dread and a steady dose of tension is accomplished by only the most masterful of filmmakers. What feels reminiscent of the drama and fear of Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby, The Ones Below is the debut feature from writer-director David Farr. Starring The Walking Dead‘s David Morrissey and Harry Potter‘s ClÄ›mence PoÄ›sy, the film tells the story of a young London couple expecting their first child. When a new couple moves in below them, the parents-t0-be ultimately find themselves in a a psychological battle of wills with the new tenants. Have a look at the trailer below!

The Ones Below is in theaters and On Demand May 27, 2016.
