Highlights of James Gunn’s Live GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Commentary and Q&A on Facebook

The magical invention that is social media lets us interact with our favorite creators like never before. Directors, talent, and everyone in between talk with fans on Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook. And sometimes you’ll get lucky, and they’ll act like James Gunn. The Guardians of the Galaxy director took to Facebook on Thursday and did a live commentary of the film while accepting and answering questions from fans. Sean Gunn (Kraglin/On Set Rocket) and Michael Rooker (Yondu) also jumped in and participated.

The trio – mostly James Gunn – shared thoughts on visual effects, characters, certain lines, and a controversial subject. This the highlights reel version of Gunn’s commentary:

On why Drax called Gamora a whore: “I know some of you don’t like Drax calling Gamora a whore. But he heard people saying that to her in the Kyln. So don’t blame him, blame me.”

On whether Cosmo will join the Guardians: “Perhaps.”

On what happened to Nebula: “Sometimes people are confused what happens to Nebula. She looks down for something to fall on, allows herself to fall on a Ravager craft, and takes out the Goth Ravager inside and flies away, leaving everyone to deal with this shit themselves, because she’s stopped caring. She will be back.”

On including Howard the Duck: “It was mine and Fred Raskin’s. I am a HUGE fan of Howard in the comics and hate the film.”

On whether Chris Pratt came up with his own dance moves to distract Ronan: “Yes, mostly.”

On why all of Groot’s twigs don’t turn into an army of little Groots: “I think he’s like Sandman in the comics – he only exists in one part. Rocket is drawn to it due to their connection.”

On whether we’ll see Star-Lord’s element gun: “Not currently but I think about it sometimes.”

On what inspired Rocket’s “I need that guy’s leg” prank: “I just like to send characters down roads we don’t expect. And Rocket’s an asshole who would use any opportunity for a practical joke.”

You can read the entire commentary at Facebook. Even if you don’t feel like reading it, I recommend taking a second to follow Gunn there. You never know what he’ll post leading into 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Great, now I want to watch Guardians of the Galaxy again. I guess if I have to…
