Hideo Kojima & Guillermo del Toro Talk SILENT HILLS & More During DICE Summit

Aside from Ubisoft’s announcement that Assassin’s Creed might not return to its annualized release schedule, there was a ton of news making the rounds today. In today’s Gaming Daily, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro discussed their friendship and creative collaboration on Silent Hills, The Division DLC will be exclusive to the Xbox One for 30 days, Wargaming’s Master of Orion voice cast includes Mark Hamill, and we have a roundup of Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 review scores!

Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro

Del Toro and Kojima discussed their friendship, creative collaboration and more during the DICE Summit.

Since we found out that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro would be teaming up to speak during the DICE Summit this week, our anticipation for the event intensified immensely. Considering the heart-breaking cancellation of Silent Hills (a.k.a. P.T.) earlier last year, seeing the pair together was bittersweet. They discussed their friendship, creative collaboration, and the possibility of working together in the future. Check out the video above to see their entire keynote.

While watching the entirety of the presentation is certainly worth it; their bromance, humor, and creative ideas are fun to watch play out; one of the main highlights was when del Toro–who previously swore off working on another game because he thinks he’s bad luck–said the following of working with Kojima:

“Except with this man, I’ll do whatever the fuck he wants,” del Toro said, indicating Kojima. When asked whether he would want to work on another project with the director, Kojima jokingly replied “Nah.”

In a recent interview with Polygon, Kojima had the following to say about del Toro and Norman Reedus (who he also worked with on Silent Hills): “Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus, who I just saw a couple of days ago, they really gave me a lot of support through my toughest times,” he said. “We always talk about doing something down the line. I’d like to do something with them before I die.”

While he confirmed that they don’t have anything in the works, it definitely sounds like a possibility. We hope it happens sooner rather than later.

The Division DLC will be exclusive to the Xbox One for 30 days.

We already knew that post launch DLC content for The Division would be arriving on the Xbox One first, but the news was reconfirmed today by a video shared by @AllGamesBeta on Twitter. That means if you plan on picking up the game for PS4, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.

Though there is a delay, 30 days isn’t really that big of a deal, especially for additional content. There’s been a lot of hype behind the title–which releases March 8–as of late, which has a lot to do with the title hitting open beta on Xbox One today, and PS4 and PC tomorrow.

He’ll be taking on the role of the Alkari emperor. Other actors revealed were: Michael Dorn, who’ll be serving as narrator; Dwight Schultz, John de Lancie, Alan Tudyk, Nolan North, and Troy Baker.
