HIDDEN UNIVERSE Travel Book Brings STAR TREK Fans to Vulcan (Exclusive)

When it comes to travel in the Star Trek universe, there’s really only one logical destination for peace and tranquility: Vulcan! Although some fans would probably prefer a trip to Risa to explore their more hedonistic desires, Insight Editions is releasing Hidden Universe: Star Trek: A Travel Guide to Vulcan, an in-universe guide to one of the most famous worlds in the entire Federation, thanks in part to Spock‘s many contributions to Starfleet. And we’ve got your exclusive look at it right here, right now!

Noted Star Trek novelist Dayton Ward wrote Star Trek: A Travel Guide to Vulcan, and the book hilariously refuses to break character even when it describes the way that visitors to this world might be drawn into a conflict over a Vulcan arranged marriage.

We saw this in the original series when Kirk was forced to fight Spock in “Amok Time.” And there’s just no substitute for Gerald Fried’s classic theme from that scene!

Now, it should be noted that this is clearly in the original Trek timeline. After all, Vulcan was destroyed two decades after the Kelvin Timeline was created in the first Star Trek reboot film. (Which really hurt its status as a tourist destination.)

Several prominent Vulcans also lend their testimonials to this book, including Ambassador Sarek and Lt. Saavik. In fact, Saavik’s quote is quite personal as she reveals why she feels drawn to Lake Yuron.
