HAWKEYE Fan Film Shows a Day in the Life of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop

Fans who only know Hawkeye from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films aren’t getting the full picture of Clint Barton’s superhero persona. Jeremy Renner is fine in the role, but his Hawkeye is based on the even cooler version from Marvel’s Ultimate Comics line. The original Hawkeye has more roguish qualities, and he’s a lot funnier than Renner’s archer.

One Riot One Ranger Productions puts their focus on the original Hawkeye in a recently released fan film. Actually, we get two Hawkeyes in this short: Clint and his partner/protégée, Kate Bishop. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Kate assumed Hawkeye’s superhero name when Clint was dead… but then he got better and they teamed up.

The Hawkeye fan film by director Kevin Housand takes its cues from the acclaimed comic book series of the same name by writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja; the film places Clint (Bryan Jewell) and Kate (Janelle DeJohn) in more mundane settings and comical situations than the standard Avengers emergency. It’s all about what they’re doing when they aren’t trying to save the world.

There are some shaky moments in this short, but it captures the humor of the Fraction and Aja Hawkeye run, and it even gives Pizza Dog a fun moment as Clint and Kate face off against the Russian criminals who can’t stop saying “bro.”

What did you think about the Hawkeye short? Would you like to see Marvel attempt to make Renner’s Hawkeye more like the one in this fan film? Take aim, and direct your thoughts at the comment section below!
