HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Play Announces Full Cast

Rehearsals have begun for the next chapter in the Harry Potter story. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to London’s Palace Theatre this summer, and the full cast for the play has been revealed. We’ve already become acquainted with the trio playing Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger — Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley, and Noma Dumezweni, respectively — but there are dozens more actors making up the cast in the story that takes place years after events in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. For the record, this is how I feel about getting more stories featuring the Boy Who Lived:

The play focuses on Harry, now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, and his youngest son Albus. From the synopsis, “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.”

The casting announcement doesn’t reveal which actors are playing which characters, but all the kids are grouped in the front row. Pottermore will apparently reveal who some of the new cast members are portraying “very soon.” For now, let’s look at a class photo of sorts of the massive cast and members of the production team taken before the first read-through on February 26:

Are you ready for the cast member list? Here you go: Nicola Alexis, Helen Aluko, Jeremy Ang Jones, Rosemary Annabella, Annabel Baldwin, Jack Bennett, Paul Bentall, Anthony Boyle, Zoe Brough, Sam Clemmett, Morag Cross, Cristina Fray, Rudi Goodman, Claudia Grant, James Howard, Christiana Hutchings, Lowri James, Chris Jarman, Martin Johnston, Bili Keogh, Chipo Kureya, James Le Lacheur, Helena Lymbery, Tom Mackley, Barry McCarthy, Sandy McDade, Andrew McDonald, Adam McNamara, Poppy Miller, Tom Milligan, Jack North, Alex Price, Stuart Ramsay, Nuno Silva, Cherrelle Skeete, Esther Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Dylan Standen, and Joshua Wyatt.

Whew!

Are you planning a special trip to London to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Head to the comments and tell me how excited you are about the play.
