How can Harry Potter fans find new ways to experience a movie franchise they have probably watched roughly, oh, a thousand times? Well, how about watching them with the magic of live music?

Variety is reporting that Warner Brothers Consumer Products, in conjunction with CineConcerts, will put on a series of film concerts for the Harry Potter movies. The movies, starting with The Sorcerer’s Stone this year, will be shown on 40 foot, high-def screens and will retain all of their dialogue and sound effects, but the famous John Williams‘ score for each movie will be provided by a full, live symphony orchestra that will perform the music in sync with the films.

The big question is, what cities do you have to make sure you have a Portkey for? The tour will begin on June 23rd in Philadelphia at the Mann Center, and from there will include concerts in San Diego, Nashville, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, and Silicon Valley. So I guess those of us that didn’t drink some Felix Felicis or live near one of these cities will just have to practice our apparating skills.

CineConcerts has done this in the past with such movies like The Godfather, Gladiator, and Star Trek, all in an effort to help promote orchestral music to a new, younger audience. Considering the rabid fandom of the Harry Potter universe, this seems like a good way to do that.
