For all those aspiring to play the young Han Solo in the forthcoming Star Wars films, Harrison Ford has some advice for you: âDonât do it.â
On Monday, there was a segment on Ellen to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakensâ upcoming digital and Blu-Ray release. Degeneres had Chewbacca on the show to talk about it. Turns out she canât understand Wookiee, though, so she surprised her audience by bringing out someone that can.
Harrison Ford emerged from backstage all turned around, like heâd just fallen off the Millennium Falcon and didnât know where he was. The crowd went bananas. Did he flinch? Nah, the guyâs unflappable. He walked across the stage, shooed Chewie off of it, and then took his seat next to Ellen.
After discussing The Force Awakensâ two billion dollar revenue and Fordâs serious income hike since A New Hopeâs $1000/week paychecks, Ellen asked him if he had any thoughts on the upcoming moviesâ ânewâ Han Solo. He clarified, ânot a new Han Solo, a ⦠a ⦠young. Itâs worse than that, itâs a young Han Solo.â
And Ford had some advice for all those auditioning for the role: âDonât do it. First, you know, it seems like everythingâs going swimmingly, and you put in 25, 30 years, and they just ⦠they just let you go. And they show you the door: âWeâre done with you, thanks very much.’â
Ford may be too old to play the younger version of Han, but heâs still young enoughâit seemsâto star in Indiana Jones. Steven Spielberg confirmed last October that the 73-year-old Ford would return for a fifth Indy flick. Ford played aloof when Ellen asked him for details about the upcoming film (and about pretty much everything else), but we’re bound to hear more as 2016 travels on.
Until then, let’s speculate who might play young Hanâthe competition is rumored to be down to a few finalists. Who will it be? Let us know what you think in the comments.
