For all those aspiring to play the young Han Solo in the forthcoming Star Wars films, Harrison Ford has some advice for you: “Don’t do it.”

On Monday, there was a segment on Ellen to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ upcoming digital and Blu-Ray release. Degeneres had Chewbacca on the show to talk about it. Turns out she can’t understand Wookiee, though, so she surprised her audience by bringing out someone that can.

Harrison Ford emerged from backstage all turned around, like he’d just fallen off the Millennium Falcon and didn’t know where he was. The crowd went bananas. Did he flinch? Nah, the guy’s unflappable. He walked across the stage, shooed Chewie off of it, and then took his seat next to Ellen.

After discussing The Force Awakens’ two billion dollar revenue and Ford’s serious income hike since A New Hope’s $1000/week paychecks, Ellen asked him if he had any thoughts on the upcoming movies’ “new” Han Solo. He clarified, “not a new Han Solo, a … a … young. It’s worse than that, it’s a young Han Solo.”

And Ford had some advice for all those auditioning for the role: “Don’t do it. First, you know, it seems like everything’s going swimmingly, and you put in 25, 30 years, and they just … they just let you go. And they show you the door: ‘We’re done with you, thanks very much.’”

Ford may be too old to play the younger version of Han, but he’s still young enough—it seems—to star in Indiana Jones. Steven Spielberg confirmed last October that the 73-year-old Ford would return for a fifth Indy flick. Ford played aloof when Ellen asked him for details about the upcoming film (and about pretty much everything else), but we’re bound to hear more as 2016 travels on.
