Handmade Millennium Falcon Snack Tray isn’t a Bucket of Bolts

December 18th isn’t that far, far away, and that means it’s not too soon to start planning your Star Wars: The Force Awakens party. And yes, you should throw a party. Start working on a Death Star pinata, make a Star Wars macaroni and cheese pie, and order a fancy Millennium Falcon snack dish.

The handcrafted piece below is the opposite of a hunk of junk. Made by Deric Peveto, this Millennium Falcon might be more beautiful than the real thing (don’t tell Han Solo I said that).

Peveto uses exotic hardwoods to make the snack dish. It depends what he has on hand, but varieties include cherry, black walnut, and purpleheart. He groups them together by color. Once assembled, the entire dish is coated with multiple layers of food-grade mineral oil and waxed so you can serve Jogan fruit or cheese or whatever you want directly from it. I recommend browsing our resident baker Jenn Fujikawa’s recipes for inspiration.

Are you ready to jump into hyperspace and order a snack dish of your very own? You can place an order at Etsy at Wood by Hand; it will set you back $225 and it takes a couple of weeks to ship since it’s made to order. If you don’t need a spaceship-shaped snack dish for some reason, browse the below gallery to see more examples of Peveto’s work, including Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings-themed pieces.

What would you serve in your Millennium Falcon snack dish? Let me know in the comments. Bonus points if you offer to share said snacks.
