GUITAR HERO LIVE Announced for Fall 2015

It is official: Guitar Hero is back to rock your socks off. Activision has finally announced that Guitar Hero Live is a thing and it is coming this year with an expansive library of music. More interesting is that it’s not just a rehash of the previous games that eventually fizzled out due to over-saturation. Now the perspective will be first person, as you face a crowd of people that will react to the way you are playing real time. So if you crash and burn on stage, the crowd will most certainly let you know. I guess you can call it an FPS: First Person Shredder. The new title is set to release sometime this year for $99.99 on the PS4, Xbox One, Ps3, Xbox 360, and even making a surprise appearance on the Wii U. This news comes as no surprise since we reported a while back that the rumors of Guitar Hero making a miraculous return were indeed not rumors– even going as far as to call it a “truemor.”

As for the peripherals, a new guitar was shown off that now includes two rows of three buttons, so it looks like it is a necessary upgrade. It is also worth noting that Guitar Hero Live will only focus on the guitar. Now Rock Band and Guitar Hero will be completely different beasts, set out to capture two different audiences.

The guitar is not the only new thing here. Guitar Hero Live will be introducing GHTV, a new playable music video network where you can jam along with your favorite videos and even compete with your friends. It seems like it will be the more relaxed setting, unless you are fine with large crowds booing you when you are failing. No judgement here.

It really is incredible that we are getting both Rock Band and Guitar Hero back this year after they’ve been gone for so long. It appears that both will be serving two different audiences that share the same enthusiasm for music. Hopefully neither of these two franchises will find the need to annualize like the previous installments that led to the saturation and eventual drop-off. It may even serve both games better to just improve soundtracks gradually and update the games to keep people interested longer.

Unfortunately, new equipment will need to be purchased but that is just a sacrifice we all have to make to the Rock Gods. Take the stairway to the comments section below and let us know if you are ready to rock or if you are more into the band scene.
