GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Won’t Have Infinity Stones

Heads up, film lovers! Today’s Movie Morsels is coming at you like Dwayne Johnson in a prison break. Don’t worry, you’ll know what that means soon, because we’ve got the latest Fast 8 behind-the-scenes video from The Rock himself. Plus, the latest on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, new footage from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and much more!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Sorry, Thanos fans, but Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn says the Infinity Stones that the intergalactic Big Bad craves won’t be making an appearance in the blockbuster’s eagerly awaited sequel.

“There will be no Infinity Stones in Vol. 2,” said Gunn on his Facebook page. “There will be infinity nothing. It’s a story about the Guardians, and isn’t meant to lead to anything else.”

Gunn had previously confirmed that Thanos himself, who had more screen time in the first Guardians than in any previous Marvel movie, wouldn’t appear in the film. But now we know that Guardians 2 won’t lead into Avengers: Infinity War in so far as the Stones are concerned. I have zero problem with this, since it gives Gunn room to tell an even more rootin’-tootin’ space adventure this time around.

Fast 8

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is promising that his character Hobbs will be at the center of “the prison scene to end all prison scenes” in the upcoming Fast 8. And to help get us pumped, Johnson has shared a photo and video on his Instagram page. Needless to say, it’s hilariously awesome, as it looks like he’s bringing his pro wrestling mojo to movies like never before…

I know you guys can see it… I have so much damn FUN playin’ the character of HOBBS. A man who lives by a code of ethics, but who will also rip your throat out and give it back to you just so you can apologize for pissin’ him off. For years our #FastAndFurious writer Chris Morgan, our @sevenbucksprod’s producer Hiram Garcia and myself would always talk about how insanely FUN FOR THE FANS a “Hobbs prison breakout” scene would be – wrecking every fool that’s in his way. Well that day has come, which is why I’m completely iced in my veins and amped out of my f*cking mind in this vid and clearly in need of a horse tranquilizer. Let Toretto and his friends preach family and love… Not HOBBS. The Iceman cometh. And he don’t fucketh around. #OnSet #Fast8 #Iceman A video posted by therock (@therock) on

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Love ’em or hate ’em, Tim Burton’s films usually look great. And his latest Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is no exception — you can see some new footage from the September 30th release in an extended TV spot that’s just arrived online. Like some sort of inverse Harry Potter or a goth X-Men, the adaptation of the hit YA novel is filled with beautiful freaks. But will it tell a satisfying story? Because that’s long been Burton’s Achilles heel…

Transformers: The Last Knight

Damn you, Paramount. Just when I’d given up on Michael Bay’s Transformers films, you go ahead and unveil a new poster for Transformers: The Last Knight that has Autobot leader Optimus Prime fighting some sort of robot dragons with a giant-ass sword. Stop doing this to me!

Bad Santa 2

Christmas is saved! No matter how much you hate the holiday season, no matter how many nagging relatives you have to put up with, and no matter if (God forbid) Donald Trump is elected President, you have Bad Santa 2 to look forward to. Billy Bob Thornton has clearly aged since the first Bad Santa, which means, ironically enough, that he actually looks more like Santa Claus  than ever before in the November 23rd release. Some new photos and a new poster also herald the welcome return of Tony Cox as Marcus and Brett Kelly as an all-grown-up Thurman Merman…
