GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trailer in the Style of SUICIDE SQUAD

The internet sure does love its mashup trailers, and while occasionally they can be just a little bit of a stretch, sometimes they make so much sense you’re disappointed you didn’t think of it first. Like when you mix two action movies, both about a group of misfits undertaking a mission that will almost certainly end in their deaths, and create something new and perfect, like this Guardians of the Galaxy trailer done in the style of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

Made by YouTube user Robert Jones, the trailer is entirely made of footage from Guardians, but with a little dialogue taken from the Suicide Squad trailer, including giving Ronan the Joker’s voice (yeah, I’d be very interested in that villain).

Jones wrote, “I loved the “Bohemian Rhapsody” edit and wanted to honor it with a movie that had a similar theme of unlikely heroes. Most of the shots are cut in the same spots and I tried to find the parallels between the movies (like the prison opening) and used them in the same spots as the original trailer.”

Queen does make everything better.

If you want to compare them, you can watch the Suicide Squad trailer here.

I have to say, this mash-up has me excited for both films. With Suicide Squad finally set to open this summer (August 5th), and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 having just begun production, I’m ready for some unconventional superheroes to get things done.

What other movie would be appropriate for a Suicide Squad-style trailer? Tell us your best ideas in the comments below.

Also be sure to watch Nerdist’s very own version of the Suicide Squad trailer…
