SUICIDE SQUAD Trailer in the Style of THE DIRTY DOZEN

The premise: a group of convicts are given a chance at freedom in exchange for running a mission where most of them will surely die. This might sound like next year’s Suicide Squad, but in reality it describes another movie that was released almost 50 years ago: The Dirty Dozen. No surprise the two films make a perfect match for this Vulture trailer-crossover.

If you have never seen The Dirty Dozen you should immediately remedy that. Without a doubt it is one of my five favorite movies of all-time. Lee Marvin plays a major tasked with putting together a squad of convicted soldiers. For a vague promise of freedom they plan an attack on a German-held mansion. The film is loaded with famous actors, like Charles Bronson, Ernest Borgnine, Telly Savalas, Donald Sutherland, and arguably the greatest football player of all-time, Jim Brown.

Here are the two trailers in their original forms.

Having Will Smith represent the Lee Marvin role is not accurate, but that nit-pick aside this is a wonderful re-cut for two films that share the same plot.

Suicide Squad opens next summer on August 5, 2015. I’ll only have to see it about 80 times to catch up to my viewings of The Dirty Dozen.

Can you think of any other movies that fit this premise as well? How about two other films that could be matched up like this? Tell us in the comments below so the internet can start editing.
