Great Scott! New Trailer for BACK TO THE FUTURE Documentary

Next month Back to the Future catches up with our reality, as we get closer to the date Marty McFly traveled forward to in the second film. And while we may not have our flying cars in time for this historic cinematic date, we are getting a documentary about the making of the film and it’s lasting impact. Appropriately called Back in Time, the movie is set to open the very same day Marty and Doc flew in to save Marty Jr—October 21, 2015.

In the new trailer (slightly NSFW due to language) we hear some interesting tidbits, like the offer made to the movie to change the iconic time machine from a Dolorean to a Ford Mustang for 75,000 dollars. Let’s just say they didn’t mince words when they turned down that idea. We also hear how the inspiration for the movie came from the simple thought of what it would have been like to go to high school with your dad.

The film has all new interviews with the cast, creators, and crew of the movie—including Bob Gale (who co-wrote the movie with director Robert Zemeckis), actors Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, and Christopher Lloyd, and executive producer Steven Spielberg alongside many others. It also examines the cultural impact the film continues to have to this day.

Just as the Back to the Future films explore the idea that our lives could have been very different if we had made another choice here or there, it will be fascinating to see how this worldwide phenomenon came together and how they got it so right.

Tell us in the comments what you hope Back in Time explores. Besides updating us on hoverboards, obviously the no hoverboards thing is a problem.
