When it comes to digital media, Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart already seem like superheroes, with legions of fans, book deals, and in Helbig’s case, a popular talk show on E!. So, it was only a matter of time until they actually played superheroes on a grander stage. Enter Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. The cult classic 1970s television series is getting a 21st century update courtesy of Fullscreen and Legendary, and this time Helbig and Hart are stepping into the title roles.
The series follows the adventures of two superheroes, Electra Woman (Helbig) and Dyna Girl (Hart), who make the big move from Akron, Ohio to Los Angeles, California in order to pursue their dream of making it big as international crimefighters extraordinaire. However, once they get to the big city, they encounter rival vigilantes, infighting amongst themselves, and much more. As it turns out, with great power comes a great responsibility not to lose let your ego run wild.
While at San Diego Comic-Con, Helbig and Hart sat down with me on-stage at the Nerdist Conival at Petco Park to talk about their upcoming series, their scariest/coolest moment on set, what would be in Electra Woman and Dyna Girl’s Drunk Kitchen, and much more. They also gave us a behind-the-scenes look at some production stills from the upcoming series. Last but not least, they were cool as hell — definitely one of my favorite groups that I interviewed over the course of Comic-Con.
Seriously, look at how badass they are.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl does not yet have a release date, but after this Conival panel, you can bet we’re keeping our eyes peeled.
