GOTHAM Season 2 Enlists Michael Chiklis

Michael Chiklis is bringing justice to the streets of Gotham City!

When Fox’s Batman prequel, Gotham, returns this fall, Chiklis will be the newest regular cast member on the show. Chiklis will portray Captain Nathaniel Barnes, an original character who is unique to Gotham’s narrative. But that didn’t stop the Gotham creative team from teasing Barnes’ ultimate character trajectory.

The producers of Gotham promise that Barnes will “[land] on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.”

Chiklis is best known for playing a corrupt cop named Vic Mackey on The Shield for seven seasons on FX. Chiklis was also The Thing in Fox’s first two Fantastic Four movies, and he was also the star of the comic book-inspired series, No Ordinary Family. More recently, Chiklis starred on American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Other new additions of Gotham season 2 include Natalie Alyn Lind as Silver St. Cloud, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan a.k.a. Tigress, James Frain as Theo Galavan, and the newly promoted series regulars, Nicholas D’Agosto and Chris Chalk as Harvey Dent and Lucius Fox, respectively.

Gotham Season 2 will premiere on Monday, September 25.
