The Court of Owls is Coming to GOTHAM

The Court of Owls are a relatively recent addition to the Batman mythos, but the history of the Court supposedly goes back several centuries in Gotham City. And while Fox’s Batman prequel, Gotham currently has its hands full with several classic Bat-villains, executive producer Bruno Heller has confirmed that the Court of Owls will be used on the series…eventually.

When asked if the newly introduced Theo (James Frain) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) would tie into the Court of Owls, Heller replied, “I won’t say that it’s part of – I don’t even want to say that, because I don’t want to spoil part of the story… The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology.”

“We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line,” continued Heller. “Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once…The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.”

For those that don’t know, the Court of Owls made their debut early in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s New 52 Batman run as a secret society that has pulled Gotham City’s strings for decades. Membership of the Court of Owls is made up from some of Gotham City’s oldest and most prestigious families, and they even have highly trained assassins called Talons who give Batman a run for his money. The Court of Owls were also recently featured in the Batman vs. Robin direct-to-video animated movie.

Gotham fans, are you excited to hear that the Court of Owls will eventually show up on the series? When would you like to see that happen? Let us know in the comment section below!
