We here at Nerdist love Good Omens, both the novel and the positive signs we get from the universe. Which is why we’re confident saying the latest casting news for the upcoming six-part Amazon adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett‘s beloved novel are another harbinger of good things to come for the series.
That’s because Amazon has announced that Adria Arjona, who you might have seen as Dorothy Gale on Emerald City, or as Emily from season two of True Detective, is joining the cast in one of the biggest roles from the book. Because she’ll be playing Anathema Device, the last descendant of the witch and world’s most accurate prophet, Agnes Nutter.
But that’s not the only casting news from of the day, although when you’re Hollywood royalty they let you announce these things yourself.

That’s right, Michael McKean, currently killing it every week as Jimmy’s loathsome brother Chuck on Better Call Saul, is taking on the crusty old witchhunter Shadwell, in a bit of inspired casting. Hopefully McKean has a taste for condensed milk, otherwise he better develop one.
They are joining Michael Sheen, who is playing the angel Aziraphale, and David Tennant, who is playing the demon Crowley, in a cast that is already exceeding our expectations. Which are admittedly very high, considering Neil Gaiman himself wrote the series and is serving as showrunner.
Like everything else we’ve learned about this adaptation so far, all signs point to this being better than good.
