Godzilla Rules All of Earth in Trailer for Anime Film GODZILLA: MONSTER PLANET

This November will bring Godzilla to his first ever anime feature film, Godzilla: Monster Planet. This time, Gozilla isn’t just the king of the monsters—he’s the king of the world! For the last 20,000 years, Earth has belonged to Godzilla and his fellow Kaiju. In the newest trailer, humanity has returned to attempt to reclaim their home.

The latest footage offers a longer look at Godzilla than any of the previous trailers provided. It also establishes the backstory of Haruo, the lead human character who is Godzilla’s adversary in this tale. The trailer flashes back to humanity’s exodus from Earth, when a very young Haruo witnessed Godzilla’s final attack. That incident took the lives of Haruo’s family and left him with a burning desire to avenge them.

Haruo’s quest for revenge comes full circle when the attempt to find a new planet spectacularly fails. The trailer depicts Haruo as an adult alongside his crew as they discover that thousands of years have passed on Earth, and it’s no longer their world. Unfortunately for them, Godzilla is still very much alive and possibly more powerful than ever before. We may be witnessing the full extent of Godzilla’s evolution, and that could spell doom for the remnants of humanity.

Godzilla: Monster Planet will be called Godzilla: Kaiju Wakusei in Japan when it gets a theatrical release on November 17. It will debut shortly thereafter on Netflix in North America, but an exact date has yet to be announced.
