Critically Acclaimed Graphic Novel GOD COUNTRY Acquired By Legendary (EXCLUSIVE)

If you’re a fan of Image Comics‘ critically lauded God Country get ready to be happy! The comic by Geoff Shaw, Donny Cates, Jason Wordie, and John J. Hill has had its international film rights picked up by Legendary Entertainment and AfterShock Media! The screenplay will be adapted by Cates who has also written some of the biggest names in big two comics including Venom, Thanos, and Doctor Strange.

For those of you who haven’t checked out this magical realism miniseries, here’s the rundown. “In God Country, Emmett Quinlan is an elderly widower rattled by dementia. Emmett isn’t just a problem for his children–his violent outbursts are more than the local cops can handle. When a tornado levels his home–as well as the surrounding West Texas town–a restored Quinlan rises from the wreckage. An enchanted sword at the eye of the storm gives him more than a sound mind and body. He’s now the only man who can face the otherworldly creatures the sword has drawn down to the Lone Star State…”

The book was a huge hit for Image Comics, and the first issue was reprinted four times before it went to trade. It’s obviously early days, but this is another exciting comics-centric announcement from Legendary and AfterShock Media, who earlier this year picked up the rights to adapt Marguerite Bennett and Rafael de Latorre’s Animosity.

Are you a fan of God Country? Already got a perfect fan cast for Emmett and crew? Just cannot wait to see God Country on the big screen? Let us know below!
