Who doesnât love a good behind-the-scenes photo set from a critically acclaimed film? Thanks to Vanity Fair, we get to see behind the scenes of Alejandro González Iñárrituâs new film Birdman in this beautiful collection of photographs from the filmâs Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki.
In case you missed the filmâs panel at New York Comic Con, moderated by our fearless leader, Birdman is the dark comedy starring Michael Keaton as Riggan Thomson, an actor battling his inner demons while trying to mount a Broadway play. The role that made him famous – a stint as the iconic superhero Birdman – mocks his efforts from within, and the cast and production are peopled by family and friends. Emma Stone plays his recovering addict daughter turned assistant, and Edward Norton is the famous method actor Mike Shiner who joins the cast and could potentially save the production. Zack Galifianakis and Naomi Watts also co-star.
Lubezki won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography in 2013 for his work on Gravity. The photos in this collection showcase include intimate shots behind the scenes of the actors and director, the Birdman in his fully feathered glory, some great production stills of shots themselves, and one picture of the acclaimed cinematographer alongside his subjects. The shot of the stuntman in action is incredible!
