Glitches Turn SUPER MARIO WORLD Into a FLAPPY BIRD Clone

Forget about Flappy Bird, let’s play some Flappy Plumber!

A strange Super Mario World trick allows you to turn the classic gem into a Flappy Bird clone using several glitches. It’s done by meticulously executing pixel-perfect movements and giving the mustachioed plumber too many power ups. The whole process is fairly complicated, and takes about an hour to complete. Daunting, right?

Watch Youtube user SethBling become the first person to complete this exploit. He also explains the complicated process much better than I ever could, so check out the above video.

What’s so impressive about putting this code into the game is that it is completed using glitches already present in the game. Also, these sorts of projects have come about before on the PC, but this was done on an um-modded SNES.

I don’t know why you’d want to play Flappy Bird instead of Super Mario World (one of the best video games ever made), but we won’t judge you if you decide to try this at home.

I’ll also take this time to remind you that SMW is now available on the New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. It has also been on the Wii U for quite some time as well, if you’d rather check it out on the big screen. You probably won’t be able to complete this exploit on either of the aforementioned versions, though. But honestly, I haven’t tried.

What do you think about this exploit? Do you think you could pull this off? Have you seen any other impressive Super Mario World glitches? Let us know in the comments below!
