GHOSTBUSTERS New Trailer Shows Better Jokes and More Action

“It will haunt you every night, whatever ‘it’ is. No one should have to encounter that kind of evil. Except you girls I think you can handle it.”

The latest trailer for the newest Ghostbusters movie makes it clear that the heavy burden of averting a potential apocalypse, caused by someone (or something) amplifying paranormal activity, is a women’s job.

This new look at Paul Feig‘s all-lady reboot is full of ghosts (including what looks like some resembling Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade ghosts) and gags (the scene with Leslie Jones‘ characters slowly trying to walk out with a giant ghost on her shoulders while someone snaps a selfie feels is the funniest non “Kate McKinnon simply existing” scene shown yet), and is a marked improvement over the first one. On top of this, it seems to make clear that this film exists in a world where the original Ghostbusters never happened, which caused a lot of unnecessary confusion. That said, the trailer does have a great nod to the original, with talk of “mass hysteria.”

While there is never-before-seen footage in this trailer, there isn’t much in the way of new information about the plot. We already knew Chris Hemsworth‘s character was going to be possessed at some point, and the talk of amplified paranormal activity was mentioned previously.

The most interesting shot comes at the end, in what feels like the most direct tie to the first Ghostbusters, where the big, bad ghost Rowan, who resembles the Ghostbusters logo, appears to be Stay Puft Marshmallow Man-sized, and also half burnt.

Even Melissa McCarthy was unhappy with the first trailer, but it feels like this one rectified a lot of the issues that one had.

What do you think of the new trailer? Did it clear up some issues from the first one? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

And hey, if the sexist backlash to movies like Ghostbusters has got you down, here’s Wil Wheaton to pick up your spirits.
