GHOSTBUSTERS: DIMENSION Is a New Virtual Reality Game Heading to New York

We have a new Ghostbusters movie to get excited about, but maybe you wish you actually got the opportunity to engage in your own phantom-catching adventure. Well, this July, Madame Tussaud’s in Times Square will play host to The Void’s newest and most ghost-tastic VR game, Ghostbusters: Dimension. Check out the game’s teaser trailer:

The masterminds behind The Void have teamed up with Ivan Reitman and Paul Feig to create an awesome adventure in ghost-busting led by Kate McKinnon’s character in the upcoming reboot, Jillian Holtzmann. On your adventure you can explore the Ghostbusters’ headquarters and then head out to a New York apartment complex to take care of a few pesky ghosts. Regardless of your feelings on the new film, this sounds like a ridiculously fun VR adventure into the world of Ghostbusters.

The Void’s immersive VR experiences are truly some of the most elaborate in the virtual reality space. Instead of just strapping a pair of goggles on your head while you amble blindly about your home, The Void creates interactive spaces that are dedicated to your experience. Mixing their real-world, interactive environments with VR tech creates what they call “hyper reality.” As you play and explore, you can physically touch the walls around you, actually carry an object when you’re wielding a weapon, and hop into motion simulators if your experience uses some sort of a vehicle. The Void has worked over time to make sure that there is next to nothing from keeping you from total game immersion, and it sounds freaking amazing. Check out this video explaining The Void a bit more:

Of course, your hyper reality Ghostbusters adventure comes stocked with a proton pack that will actually rattle in your hands as your fire. Even cooler, you may even be able to grab a ride in the Ecto-2. This is the first time that The Void has done a public installation at Madame Tussaud’s, and it sounds like it is going to be epic. Pre-sale tickets are available, so now all you have left to do is decide if you really ain’t afraid of no ghosts, because Ghostbusters: Dimension is shaping up to be as close to actual ghost-busting as you can get. Check out the gallery to see a few pictures from the adventure.

Have you been able to visit The Void before? What did you think of it? Will you be checking out Ghostbusters: Dimension this summer? What other immersive experiences would you like to see at The Void? Tell me about it in the comments!
