When checking for the weather on TV, one either usually expects a straight forward factual report or, sometimes, a wacky weatherman in a costume. Occasionally, celebrities and TV personalities will get a chance to make the weather updates more fun to watch. Our very own Chris Hardwick has gotten to cover the weather for the fine people of Nashville and did so quite well.
Now, from the far reaches of the Internet, you can get your weather from a Jewish grandmother based out of Boca Raton, FL. Thanks to WeatherFrom.com and the talents of actor and writer David Krumholtz, one can check the temperature in cities around the world and also how your bubbe is doing.
All one has to do is go to WeatherFrom.com, enter your city of choice, and then find both the forecast and some tangential elderly thoughts on whatever that forecast is. Krumholtz plays Gigi, the aforementioned Floridian Jewish grandmother, in numerous videos where she espouses her opinions on what you should do based on the weather. Often times, she’ll tell you to stay inside and offer a myriad of explanations in addition to her thoughts on Obamacare, Harold, etc. Sometimes, she gets so exasperated about the weather or the situation that she’ll curse away delightfully.
For those of you that know Krumholtz from his role as Prof. Charlie Eppes on CBS’Â Numbers, this is definitely a departure from the blackboard and complex mathematical analysis, but it is one that you’ll probably enjoy. There are so many of these videos attached to various weather reports that you could very well spend hours looking up weather around the world just to hear what Gigi has to say about it. In many ways, WeatherFrom is a more than worthy successor to David Lynch’s discontinued daily weather report.
