One of the highlights of this season of Arrow has been the inclusion of Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, the billionaire industrialist genius mechanics wiz who has taken over Oliver’s company, and all but stolen the heart of our Ms. Felicity Smoak. He’s also grooming himself to help in the battle for Starling (soon to be Star) City’s welfare with his ATOM program, giving himself a cybernetic suit which we can only assume will shrink him down so he can flow through electrical cords and things of that nature. Moreover, he has impressed the Arrow brass who are already talking about giving him his own spinoff series.
Well the wait to see what Routh’s Atom will look like is over as The CW and Warner Bros. have released the first image of the suit, which currently looks like armor and probably won’t let him change sizes just yet. (Sort of Ender’s Game-y if you ask me, but still cool.) Ray and Felicity are set to visit Central City in The Flash episode “All Star Team-Up”, which will likely see STAR Labs’ crew helping him refine the suits abilities. First, though, Routh will be seen in full Atom attire in the episode of Arrow titled “Nanda Parbat”, debuting Wednesday, February 23rd, the 15th episode of Season 3.
The Flash star Grant Gustin also posted this awesome picture of the two suits to his Instagram — all suits, no people.
Lastly, but not least(ly), senior editor Dan Casey also weighed in on the suit and its possible ramifications in a video report:
What do you think of Routh’s Atom apparel? Do you think he’ll be a good addition to The CW’s crime-fighting cavalcade? Let us know below.
I always felt Routh got a raw deal in the negative publicity he received for his portrayal of Superman; although largely, much criticism went toward the film itself. I’m sure he’ll do great.
To me this costume looks like a combo of X-0 Manowar and the arkham knight.
Brandon Routh started off so great on Arrow. And then, just like Ollie, he got that annoying Felicity infection and now my interest in him is “shrinking”.
It’s a shame because ATOM can be a solid character but, just like with Flash, he may need to get away from Felicity before he really shines.
Wow. Not sure it’s a step down from Superman. Hope he does well in this role.
