Get a Dose of the Insane With The First Trailers For ABC’s HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and FOREVER

You’ve got to hand it to ABC: they do their very best to never play by the rules of television, even if the concept itself is fairly standard. ALIAS went from a spy show to some crazy Leonardo Da Vinci-driven mystery series and Lost, I mean… well, you know how that went. So of course we should expect more of this kind of drama from the network. Enter Forever and How To Get Away With Murder.

From the mind of Scandal’s Shonda Rhimes comes a law show with spunk. At least, that’s what the trailer and first clip would have us believe:

Now who doesn’t love a good scandal (see what we did there?) to get them up in the morning? This series looks like classic Shonda: sex, lies, murder, and insanity. If there’s one thing you gotta love about Rhimes, it’s that she knows what she wants out of a series, and she knows damn well what audiences are coming to see. Considering she just signed a new overall deal that will keep her at the network for many years to come, there’s no doubt audiences and ABC are thrilled with the promise of this new balls-out crazy drama.

Then there’s this new detective drama with a twist:

So it’s like Elementary meets South Park? Yeah, we’ll watch that. When it comes to immortality dramas, everything hinges on the charisma of the lead character (Torchwood anybody?), and if there’s one thing Forever definitely seems to have, it’s charisma.

Both of these new ABC dramas look like they’re going to offer their own brand of insanity come fall, and there ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Which of these two offerings are your favorite? What else are you looking forward to this season from ABC?
