GEARS OF WAR 4 Footage Looks Spectacular, Will Be First Game Available on Xbox Play Anywhere

Going into Microsoft’s E3 conference this year, we were hoping to see a ton of Gears of War 4 footage, and we weren’t disappointed. The reveal was one of our favorites from last year’s conference, so seeing actual gameplay was a real treat. Laura Bailey (of Geek and Sundry’s own Critical Role) hit the stage to introduce and play the game live. It was also revealed that the game will be the first title available on Xbox Play Anywhere—a program that allows you to access your games and achievements on both Xbox One and PC. The game will also support cross-play across campaign, multiplayer and the new horde mode.

As expected, the gameplay resembles the third-person cover shooter we all know and love. If you got a chance to check it out during the stream, you were able to appreciate the crisp graphics, and beyond amazing sound design. The game looks as gory (and fun) as ever. There wasn’t too much plot-wise revealed, though we did get a sneak peek of the infamous Marcus Fenix at the end of the trailer!

If that wasn’t enough, following the action-packed demo, a gorgeous Gears-themed Xbox One Elite Controller was revealed. Feast your eyes on the controller in the video at the top of the page. We’re proud owners of the original Elite Controller (which allows you to customize your gaming experience), so you know we’ll definitely be grabbing the Gears-themed one to play Gears of War 4 when it launches on Xbox One and Windows 10 October 11, 2016.

What did you think of the gameplay footage and the new controller? Will you be taking advantage of the Xbox Play Anywhere program? Let us know in the comments below.
