GARFUNKEL AND OATES The Series Will Premiere This August on IFC

For some time now, one of our favorite comedy duos has been the musical comedy stylings of Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome, better known as Garfunkel and Oates. We were very excited when IFC announced that they were picking up their self-titled TV series late last year, as well as when we found out that the one and only Fred Savage was stepping in as a director. Still, that excitement can only last so long before we all wonder when the show will actually make it to TV screens (or really any screens) so we can watch Kate and Riki on a regular basis.

Announced yetserday, the series Garfunkel and Oates will premiere on Thursday, August 7th at 10PM EST/PST according to a tweet from IFC.

Micucci and Lindhome did have a Garfunkel and Oates series exclusively available on HBO Go, but that was sadly a short-lived experiment. Luckily, IFC realized how sharp and sweetly funny the songs of Garfunkel and Oates are, such as “My Apartment’s Very Clean Without You”, and picked up the torch from HBO. We also get to routinely enjoy Riki’s podcast Making It here at Nerdist.

Splitsider reports that the show boasts an impressive list of guest stars too. Our very own fearless leader Chris Hardwick will be making an appearance, which makes sense as he is a reference in one of their rap songs, amongst other things, in addition to the amazing talents of Ben Kingsley, Tig Notaro, Anthony Jeselnik, Abby Elliott, Natasha Leggero, Chris Parnell, Steve Agee, and, of course, John Oates from Hall & Oates.

On top of Comedy Bang! Bang! and Portlandia, a Garfunkel and Oates show is just another reason you need to be watching IFC right now.

Are you ready for IFC’s Garfunkel and Oates? Who would you like to see guest star? Let us know in the comments below.
