Gaming Daily: Unlock RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER DLC, and a Free Way to FALLOUT 4

Happy Fallout 4 Day everybody! With Rise of the Tomb Raider also hitting shelves today, I’m sure you’ve been pretty busy. Lucky for you, we’re here to keep you informed and up to date, just in case you missed anything. In today’s Gaming Daily, playing Rise of the Tomb Raider before December will unlock free DLC; find out what we thought of RoTR in our official review; snag a free copy of Fallout 4 by purchasing a PS4 from GameStop; Fallout’s Codsworth can say almost 1,000 names, and Konami is helping make Metal Gear Solid-like prosthetic limbs for double amputee gamer.

Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC

Pick up free DLC by playing Rise of the Tomb Raider before December

With Rise finally out in the wild, Microsoft took to the web today to announce brand new DLC for the title. As long as you play the game before December 1st rolls around, you’ll be able to snag a sweet golden skin for Lara’s Rattlesnake Revolver. The best part is that it’s completely free.

Though the content doesn’t really do anything, aside from dress up one of Lara’s weapons, it’s great to see the developer doling out content that won’t cost a thing. Plus, it’s a great incentive for players to pick the game up in addition to (or instead of) Fallout 4. As someone who frequently uses that particular revolver, I know I’ll be downloading it before it disappears.

This will go nicely with the silencer I was planning on picking up from the in-game merchant.

Rise of the tomb raider

Our Rise of the Tomb Raider review went live

Speaking of RoTR, my review for the game went live today! I know, Fallout 4 is probably the only thing on your mind right now, but believe me when I say that you won’t want to miss out on this one. It still boggles my mind that Microsoft decided to release the game the same day as Bethesda—especially with the PS4 version not releasing until next year (December 2016). But, I’ve seen a ton of people on the internet chatting about how they’ve picked it up, so I guess it wasn’t too affected. The great news is that it’s an excellent game. In fact, it’s probably one of my favorites this year, which is why I gave it 4.5 out of 5 burritos on the burrito-meter. For more on my thoughts, check out my full review (linked below).

Pick up a free copy of Fallout 4 when you buy a PS4 from GameStop.

Okay enough about Tomb Raider, let’s talk about Fallout 4! Ahh, it’s hard to believe that the game is finally here. If you were planning on picking up a PS4 to play it on, you’re going to love this next bit of news. A pretty exciting listing for a new PS4 bundle—which includes a free copy of Fallout—recently popped up on GameStop’s online store. With it, you’ll be able to score the 500 gb system, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Fallout 4 for only $349.99.

Wow! That’s a bargain, especially with both games normally retailing for $60 each. This is a great incentive for those who’ve been thinking about upgrading, picking up a new console, or switching over from the Xbox One. It definitely beats the $299 Black Friday deal bundles that recently leaked. Getting two great games and the system for $50 more is great.

Codsworth can say almost 1,000 different names in Fallout 4

A little while ago, the voice actor behind Fallout 4’s Codsworth revealed that he’d recorded about 1,000 names for the title. Well, it turns out he wasn’t exaggerating because the official list of names he’ll be able to say in the game, was recently released. Though our own Edwin Garcia is bummed he didn’t make the cut, Katniss, Furiosa, and even F**kface are all included. To see whether your name made the list, check out our full article (linked below).

Metal Gear Solid V Limbs

Konami working on Metal Gear-like prosthetic limbs for double amputee gamer.

With their messy separation from Hideo Kojima and unfortunate cancellation of Silent Hills earlier this year, Konami’s been getting a lot of flack as of late—despite the success of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Though it feels like we’ve been swimming in a sea of bad news recently, it was exciting to hear the recent report that they had teamed up with a prosthetic limb company to help out a gamer in need.

With the new initiative called “The Phantom Limb Project,” the company will be working with Sophie De Oliveira Barata (of the Alternative Limb Project) and her team—which includes engineers, roboticists, and product designers—to craft a “highly stylized and multi-functional” limb for 25-year-old gamer James Young.

In contrast to other prosthetics companies, Barata works with customers on the design of the limbs before creating them. As a gamer who’s a big fan of the Metal Gear franchise, deciding to create something based on the series was a no-brainer. The best part is that the whole thing will be chronicled in a documentary and a series of blog posts (link below). We can’t wait to see how it turns out.
