Gaming Daily: Teenagers Take the Nintendo Power Glove for a Spin

Happy Monday, everybody! Just kidding– there’s nothing happy about Mondays except for maybe the dawn of another week of gaming news. If you were paying attention to our gaming section today, you’ve probably already checked out the awesome Hand-drawn Zelda cards and Amiibo updates news we reported on this morning. In addition to that, we have a few more stories to report. In today’s Gaming Daily, Teenagers take a crack at using an Nintendo Power Glove, Bioware cancels Shadow Realms and Titanfall will probably be coming to PS4. What are we waiting for? Let’s dig in.

Teenagers take the old school Nintendo Power Glove for a spin.

With wearables becoming more popular as we move into the future, you have to wonder if the world is ready to embrace these new technologies– especially when looking at past failures in the same regard. For every new believer of the Oculus Rift, there’s a person who simply detested the Virtual Boy back when Nintendo launched that dreadful machine in 1995.

Another one of Nintendo’s prized failures was the vintage Power Glove, which– even with being a commercial failure– somehow managed to be regarded as an iconic peripheral within the Nintendo legacy. But what about the teenagers who missed out on this awful gem? The latest edition of Teen’s React gives us a first-hand look at some young folks first experience with this extremely flawed piece of hardware. Have a look at the video above and prepare to laugh.

Shadow Realms officially cancelled by Bioware.

Uh-oh! The online co-operative RPG Bioware Austin revealed back in August is no more. Shadow Realms, which was announced at Gamescom, was to feature 4v1 gameplay similar to Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming release Evolve in which players could join up with three friends and fight a playable Shadowlord.

“We’ve made the decision to not move forward with development of Shadow Realms,” BioWare Austin general manager Jeff Hickman wrote on the title’s website. “We fully recognize that this news is disappointing to some of our fans, so I want to explain more behind this decision.

“While the team did amazing work on the game concept and we got lots of great feedback from our fans at events and through other game testing, right now there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond. We’ve got an incredibly talented team here at the Austin studio, and they are excited and already deep on new projects within the BioWare family, ones that will make some great BioWare games even better.”

While this news is unfortunate, it will give the developer more time to work on the next Mass Effect, Dragon Age Inquisition and of course, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Titanfall 2

EA Exec points out positives of bringing Titanfall to PS4.

Coming as a surprise to almost nobody (except maybe delusional people), it is all but confirmed that Titanfall 2 will in fact be coming to the PlayStation 4. After the odd “for the life of the title” phrase was tacked on to the end of Titanfall’s Microsoft exclusivity spiel, people started to speculate that the phrase didn’t sound like it was going to count Sony out of the equation for too long.

Those feelings were stirred up a little after EA executive Blake Jorgensen stated at a San Francisco convention today, ” “Last year it was on the Xbox only; in the future, we haven’t yet announced, but we’ll probably have another Titanfall game,” he said. “It will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform. I think that that’s a huge positive for us.”

To be perfectly honest, it wouldn’t make sense for the Titan-filled shooter to remain an Xbox exclusive, especially when you consider the fact that the PS4 is the most popular console on the market so far this generation. This is the announcement a lot of people expected when EA took the stage to announce their special giveaway at the PlayStation Experience in December.
