Gaming Daily: Pumpkin Heads Infiltrate DESTINY

With the heavy influx of fantastic Marvel news that hit the web today, it would be no surprise if today’s gaming news went right over your head like Iron Man soaring through the clouds. Of course, this doesn’t mean there was necessarily a lot to talk about today, but for the couple of noteworthy things that did come up, you’re locked into the right place here on today’s Gaming Daily.

Destiny gets in the Halloween spirit

Hey, look! Destiny is acting like a true MMO, ladies and gents. The next time you hop on, make sure you head to the Tower and pay the Post Master a visit. You’ll then be rewarded with special consumables called “Jackolyte,” which will transform your guardian’s head into a jack-o’-lantern. Yes, this is pretty awesome and a great homage to the holiday, but before you Destiny regulars get too excited, keep in mind that the consumables only last for 30 minutes, so you’ll have to use them sparingly and savor them over the course of the week.

I’m personally interested to see how these consumables will affect gameplay within the Crucible. Yeah, it’ll be cool looking all badass with a carved pumpkin on your Guardian’s head, but will the hit box be increased due to the jack-o-latern’s mass? If so, you’d probably be best suited sticking to the Tower with these or becoming someone’s treat on the battlefield.

Battlefield Hardline set to hit in March 2015.

After being pushed out of this holiday season (originally slated for October 21) into next year, Battlefield Hardline has finally found its footing and is set to release sometime in March of 2015. CEO Andrew Wilson explained during an EA financial call today that the feedback from the beta test and trade shows ultimately lead to the decision to give Visceral Games more time to straighten the game’s edges.

“The cops and criminals fantasy – this is kind of the foundation for the game – resonated very, very strongly not just with existing fans, but with new players to the Battlefield franchise,” Wilson stated. “But the feedback was also universal that we should go deeper with that fantasy and really deliver against that to a greater degree. What we’ve done is given the development team that time to go back in and really look at how to truly deliver on that cops and criminals kind of gameplay as it exists in a Battlefield world.”

Given the launch of Battlefield 4 and how sloppy it was, you have to admit that this is definitely a refreshing thing to here for the series’ next installment. Still not sure if I’m sold on this take on Cops and Robbers, but Battlefield fans are sure to get a kick out of this is the game plays out as Visceral intends: like a Michael Bay movie on steroids.
