DRAGON BALL Z Androids Saga In Pulp Fiction Art Style

If you are a fan of the Dragon Ball Z manga or anime, then you know very well that the arrival of Dr. Gero’s psychotic androids spelled our hero’s impending doom. Android 17 and 18 were so powerful and evil that it prompted Bulma and Vegeta’s love child, Trunks, to travel back in time to warn earth’s Z fighters. Terminator anyone? As terrifying as these ultimate weapons dressed as teenagers were, couldn’t they look anymore menacing?

Artist Ástor Alexander has answered this question by creating four fantastic fake covers featuring the most prominent villains from the Android/Cell saga, in the surprisingly fitting 1930s and ’40s pulp fiction art style. They look more terrifying than ever. The four covers somewhat tell the story themselves of part of the saga, going in chronological order from when Android 17 and 18 are born, all the way to the arrival of the green grinch himself, Cell. Feast your eyes on all the covers in the gallery below.

Out of all of the sagas that could have been chosen for this art style, the Android saga was the best choice. It would have actually made a nice transition over to a pulp-fiction novel. Either way, I suggest you go read the manga or watch the anime if you haven’t already, you’ve only had the past 18 years to rectify the mistake of not getting involved with Dragon Ball Z. Do not worry there is plenty of time to catch-up before the epic Dragon Ball Super arrives.

For even more hype for Dragon Ball Super, make sure to check out all of our coverage of the upcoming series. Also, I made a top 7 episode list in which I did include an episode from this saga. You can check out which episode and where it ranks here. Gather up the Dragon Balls to wish up your best thoughts and let us know what you think of this pulp fiction art in the comments section below.
