Gaming Daily: New MORTAL KOMBAT X TV Spot Features System Of a Down

Alas, we’ve finally made it to Friday. Since I know you want to head off into the weekend to completely immerse yourself in From Software’s recently released PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, we’ve got a couple of news reports to keep your mind occupied while you die over and over again. In today’s Gaming Daily: From Software’s PS1 title Shadow Tower is coming to PSN next week as a PS1 Classic, NetherRealm Studios and System of a Down released the official TV spot for Mortal Kombat X, and Lords of the Fallen developer Deck13 Interactive is already trying to vet Hideo Kojima. What are we waiting for? Let’s dive into this madness.

Mortal Kombat X TV Spot Feature’s System of a Down track.

Ahead of the game’s official launch trailer, Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm, director Phil Joanou, and System of a Down pulled together to create a pretty badass TV spot featuring the rock band’s 2001 hit “Chop Suey”. On the project, band member Shavo Odadjian remarked, “I felt more like I was editing a movie. I kind of forgot that it was a video game.” We kind of have to agree on this one.

This video comes days after the developer teamed up with Maxim Russia to release a brand new gameplay video to announce that series favorite Liu Kang would be making a glorious Komeback.

In case you aren’t already in the know–which seems pretty impossible at this point, what with all the Mortal Kombat X announcements that have been piling up this past month–Mortal Kombat X is set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC April 14. 2015. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions on the other hand won’t be released until the summer.

From Software title Shadow Tower will be released on PSN next week.

Ah, yes. It looks like some classic From Software goodness is headed to PSN sometime next week. While it won’t be making it to the PS4. you’ll be able to get your soul loving hands on the classic Shadow Tower for Sony’s handhelds and the PS3.

Originally releasing in 1998 in Japan and 1999 in North America, the game resembles one of the company’s earlier titles, King’s Field, and later received the sequel Shadow Tower Abyss in Japan only. As you’ll notice in the above video, the combat is slightly reminiscent of the Souls games we all know and love. Is that knight warming himself by a bonfire? Yep.

Since it will be releasing as a PS1 Classic, we’re figuring the price tag will be somewhere in the realm of $6-$10. Which, if you end up finishing Bloodborne (stay tuned for our review) by then and want a nice piece of nostalgia, isn’t too bad.

LORDS-OF-THE-FALLEN-03272015

Lords of the Fallen developer offers Hideo Kojima a job.

With the recent bombshell of a news piece that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima was to part ways with Konami once development on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was complete, we were bound to see other studios clawing for the talented developer. Possibly as a joke on twitter, that is exactly what Lords of the Fallen developer Deck 13 Interactive has done. Check out the tweet below:

Whether they were serious or not, it’s safe to say it is only a matter of time before another developer swoops him up. Unless of course he carves his own path and starts a brand new studio.
