It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over. We are only a few days away from the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens already, and most of the hyped up AAA titles have already hit retailers shelves. Which only means that it’s time to start thinking about 2016 titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Persona 5. I’ve already been kicking butt on the multiplayer beta of Nathan Drake’s latest adventure, so I’m definitely hyped for it to hit the PS4.
Now, onto the business at hand. In today’s Gaming Daily, Linkle was pitched as Link’s sister, Carly Rae Jepsen recorded a song in Simlish, Xbox One bundles will once again be on sale, Bethesda opened a new studio in Montreal, and the Wii U version of Minecraft won’t utilize the gamepad for inventory management.
Linkle was originally pitched as Link’s Sister.
In a recent interview with IGN, Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma, revealed that everyone’s new favorite character, Linkle, was actually pitched as Link’s sister. Here’s what Aonuma had to say:
“Koei Tecmo first proposed the Linkle character as Link’s little sister for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors. However, we felt this conflicted with the concept of Aryll from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the only character we had ever had appear as Link’s sister, so we decided not to include that version. In Hyrule Warriors Legends, though, the proposal was to include Linkle not as Link’s sister, but as a girl with heroic aspirations. This was a totally new and unique background for the franchise, and we thought she would add to the game’s diversity, so we decided to include her in this game.”
Linkle made waves on the internet because she is a female version of the protagonist, and not just a new character in his adventure. It does indeed add to the franchise’s diversity, like Aonuma mentions. Link is not usually the same character, so it makes sense to have a female protagonist take the hero mantle.

Carly Rae Jepsen has recorded a track in Simlish.
Well, here’s a weird one for you. Carly Rae Jepsen recorded a song for the Sims 4: Get Together expansion pack in the Sim fictional language, Simlish. The track, “Run Away With Me”, is actually from her most recent album, Emotion, which has actually received acclaim from many music communities. Still, this is strange to say the least. Listen to the track above.

The Xbox One will go on sale once again.
Let’s be honest, most of us have yet to go holiday shopping yet. Don’t worry though, Microsoft has announced that the extremely popular Black Friday Xbox One sale is now back. Every X1 bundle available will be selling for $50 off from their retail price all the way through December 26. That means you can grab a bundle that includes a couple of games for as low as $299.
If you were on the fence and missed out on the shopping spree a couple of weeks ago, now is the time to nab one of these bad boys.
Microsoft has already shared how successful this Black Friday was for the console, so it makes sense to have this deal once again when people are more likely to splurge on consoles. This could also be a sign that it will become a permanent price point depending on how well the console does this season.
It’s a really great deal, and I personally took advantage of it to purchase the Halo 5 Limited Edition X1 on Black Friday despite already owning one. Now the question is whether Sony will match this sale.

Bethesda opens new studio in Montreal.
Bethesda Game Studios has announced that a brand new office has been opened in Canada. The studio is named Bethesda Montreal, and has already recruited 40 developers. That’s not all though: they are still looking to add more talent to their Maryland and Montreal offices. The new studio in particular will be working on mobile, PC, and console games. It’s great for gamers because this probably means we will get more games from the developer much more frequently.

Minecraft on Wii U won’t support gamepad inventory management.
Yesterday, Nintendo announced that Minecraft was coming to the Wii U December 17, and the internet reacted with a collective “finally!” Most people agree that it’s insane that the most child friendly platforms didn’t already have Minecraft in its catalogue of games. Plus, the gamepad is perfect for moving around all your items. But wait, before you get too excited, it was revealed that this version won’t include this most obvious feature of inventory management. Derp.
Director of creative communications at Mojang, Owen Hill, had the following response to a fan question on Twitter:
@jimmyhizz Not at the moment, sorry. It's just used as an alternate screen if someone is using the TV. Would be cool though. 🙂

Now, before being too harsh on Microsoft and Nintendo, let me just say it could easily be a calculated move. This is now a Microsoft owned IP, so there’s no reason they wouldn’t want the Xbox versions of the game to be the best one on consoles. Using the Wii U gamepad for inventory management would make it the best place to play outside of PC.
Also, just because it doesn’t include that nifty feature right now doesn’t mean it can’t be added through an update later down the line.
