Gaming Daily: John Boyega Wants a Story Mode in STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT

The video game world has been buzzing all week, due in large part to Hello Games finally revealing more information about their highly anticipated title, No Man’s Sky. Also, Nintendo hosted the first full-length Direct of the year yesterday. Indeed, it has been a fun one, but before you head off to hopefully play lots of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Pokémon Yellow this weekend, we’ve got some news to cap the business days. In today’s Gaming Daily, The Force Awakens‘ John Boyega wants a full campaign in Battlefront, more No Man’s Sky information was revealed, Link wonders why it isn’t called The Legend of Link, our Far Cry Primal review went live, and watch the evolution of Pokémon RPGs.

Star Wars Battlefront

The Force Awakens‘ John Boyega wants a full campaign in Battlefront.

Traitor!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ star, John Boyega, took to Twitter to ask EA wether Star Wars: Battlefront would eventually be getting an offline (campaign) mode. EA’s response makes the whole exchange comical. Enjoy:

He makes a good point.

No EA, that’s not what Boyega (who portrays Finn in The Force Awakens) wants. In fact, I doubt too many Battlefront fans care about the offline missions.

There’s no doubt we’ll eventually get a sequel to last year’s Battlefront, so hopefully the outcry from the fans and Star Wars‘ actor for a comprehensive campaign doesn’t fall on deaf ears. I suspect images of John visiting EA will be surfacing in the near future, since he does ask if he can pay the developer/publisher a visit.

Keep fighting the good fight!

No Man’s Sky galore.

And just like that, we now know that No Man’s Sky is hitting PSN and PC on June 21. Earlier this week, we actually got to check out the game, and take a look at the minute-to-minute gameplay within the massive universe. Our very own Malik Forté summed it up in a recent post featuring seven things you didn’t know about the upcoming title. Here are a few things you should know: Sean Murray described it as a survival game, which makes it easier to understand what kind of gameplay to expect. The resource and upgrade system is surprisingly robust. And finally, first-person shooter fans are going to find the controls very familiar. Peep Malik’s interview with Hello Games Sean Murray above.

Link wonders why it’s not called The Legend of Link.

Isn’t it the worst when filthy casuals mistakenly call Link, Zelda? Seriously, it’s not like Link is the legendary hero of time who constantly saves Hyrule from falling into complete darkness, right? Well, Dorkly tackled this subject matter in a new video where Link ponders how he’ll be remembered. Watch the clip above.

I just love how sassy Zelda is in the video.

Though, this clip did make me wonder why we haven’t had a Zelda game where the princess is the playable character. The series could use with a refreshing take on the formula.

Far-Cry-Primal-6-02292016

Far Cry Primal review.

Far Cry Primal  is nothing like the previous installments in the franchise. Yet, it somehow finds a way to stay true to the series. The new gameplay mechanics (such as beast taming) are simple, intuitive, and a whole lot of fun. There’s nothing like taking down your foes with your pet saber-tooth tiger. The plot is incredibly weak, but the game is definitely worth your time. For more, check out our full review here.

Watch the evolution of the Pokémon RPGs in this animation.

Alright, I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for anything Pokémon-related, but I think you guys will really enjoy this short animation featuring the evolution of the pocket monster games. It was posted by Twitter user Memi, and it’s all levels of perfect. Spoilers: prepare for nostalgia overload.

It’s great that Pokémon fans are showing their appreciation of the series during the 20th anniversary of the RPGs original launch. There are few franchises that can garner the same amount of love. Now all we have to do is wait for Pokémon Moon and Sun to release later this year. But at least we have Red, Blue, and Yellow (read why you should be playing this games here) to replay in the meantime. I’m already half-way through collecting all 151 pocket monsters in Yellow (I caught Mew, don’t judge me).

That’s it for today, folks. Make sure to keep it here for more No Man’s Sky coverage. Have you played through Far Cry Primal? How have you enjoyed conquering Oros? Are you going to pre-order No Man’s Sky? Let us know in the comments below!
