As far as Mondays go, this was a rather gloomy one. We lost the legendary David Bowie last night, and itâs been rough. When Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released a few months ago, hearing his track âThe Man Who Sold the Worldâ–which played during the intro sequence of the game–led to me revisiting a lot of his past work. He inspired so many people, including Hideo Kojima, who referenced him several times in the MGS series. Though Iâd love to sit and list all the ways he inspired people, itâs time to get to todayâs gaming news. In todayâs Gaming Daily, Gears of War 4 might release earlier, HTC Vive pre-orders to go live in February, Neil Druckmann hints at Uncharted 4âs ending, and Games Done Quick raises 1.2 million for cancer research.
Gears of War 4 release date moved to Fall of 2016
Well, that was unexpected. With games getting delayed left and right, it came as a pleasant surprise when news hit that weâd be getting Gears of War 4 earlier than expected. While it isnât a huge leap, Microsoft representatives have confirmed that the game will be launching in Fall 2016, as opposed to Winter 2016.
The new release window was revealed during a recent livestream. With the beta already slated for spring, it looks like weâll be getting our hands on the game pretty soon. I for one am excited, especially since Iâve been trekking through Gears of War Ultimate Edition the past few weeks.
Speaking of the Ultimate Edition, they also revealed during the stream that 45% of players who picked it up were new to the game. Though there are several factors involved, thatâs a pretty impressive figure. Letâs hope it means good things for the series.

Naughty Dogâs Neil Druckmann hints at Uncharted 4âs ending.
We already knew Uncharted 4 was going to be Nathan Drakeâs last hurrah, but according to a couple of hints that developer Naughty Dog has been dropping lately, it sounds like the ending doesnât bode well for our favorite adventurer. If the trailer from a couple of weeks ago wasnât a big enough indication of his fate, the recent interview Neil Druckmann did with The Sun sure is.
He explained, âWeâve been with this character for so long. Heâs at the height of his popularity, so itâs not a good business decision. But I feel like the best way to honor him is to go out on top, to finish his story. Whether thatâs it for Uncharted? I donât know. At the end of the day Sony owns Uncharted and they can do whatever they want.â
Okay, that sounds pretty standard. But then, he said âBut with the end of this story, it will be really hard to do a sequel with Nathan Drake.â
Whoa. Thatâs heavy.
His statement could mean a variety of things, but weâre assuming heâs referencing the characterâs death. Though he admits that a prequel of sorts, or even another game with a different character could happen, he ended the interview with âBut this is the end for Nathan Drake.â
