Gaming Daily: Find Out Why FALLOUT 4 is Ruining Lives

It’s hump day, everbody! It’s been another eventful week thanks to the launch of Star Wars: Battlefront. Many of you have been waiting over 10 years for this game and, like me, maybe went a bit overboard and bought the Darth Vader-themed PS4. I have no regrets! You can expect our full review early next week. We want to wait and see how the servers hold up with so many people jumping online to play before giving our final verdict. Definitely stay tuned for that. Now, let’s talk about games, shall we? In today’s Gaming Daily: Fallout 4 is ruining lives, Borderlands gets the Honest Trailer treatment, Halo 5: Guardians new update brings free content, you will soon be able to play Dungeons & Dragons on VR tech, and Rocket League will be getting more DLC goodies come December.

Fallout 4 is ruining lives.

Apparently, Fallout 4 has already been out in the wild for 8 days–though, I wouldn’t know since I’ve been posted up right in front of my screen since I got my hands on the game. Gauging by how extremely popular this title is, there’s a good chance that someone you care about has been obsessing over this game. If you can’t think of someone in your life that’s been consumed by it, then it may be you.

So, if you’ve lost someone to Fallout 4 and don’t understand why, then you’ll be able to relate to this clip above.

I have to say, this production from the YouTube channel Ranker is pretty hilarious. It’s meant to be in jest, so don’t start flinging shade their way–it is titled “Fallout 4 Ruined my Life (Fallout 4 trailer Parody)”, after all. My favorite line is delivered early on in the video when one of the “victims” says, ” I just thought it would be another Half-Life 3” when talking about the possibility of Fallout 4 being announced earlier this year.

Even though it is meant to be in jest, many have lost the attention of their partners because of this game, and not everyone is taking it well. Exhibit A: an Instagram post of a disgruntled girlfriend–Kostia Roman— breaking her boyfriends game.

Please don’t do this to your partner. If you’re dating someone that’s willing to do this to get your attention, it may be time to move on. Obviously, this could be a hoax. But man, games are expensive, so find a different way of getting your message across.

Borderlands gets the Honest Trailer treatment.

The Borderlands franchise has provided me with countless hours of unabridged fun, and I know many out there have had the same experience with the series. So, it only makes sense that Smosh Games tear it apart in their latest Honest Trailer. Like always, Smosh Games is on point with their criticism. Peep the hilarious clip above. Despite its shortcomings, the Borderlands games have been pretty influential in the RPG first-person shooter genre. It’s one of the first ones to combine these two in a popular manner.

Halo-5-update

Free Halo 5: Guardians update incoming.

What Halo 5 is lacking in terms of single-player campaign, it makes up for in spades with the multiplayer. In my review of the latest Halo installment, I expressed how fantastic the multiplayer component of the package really is, and it’s about to get better. 343‘s baby will prompt you to update the game the next time you boot it up, and with it comes a new multiplayer mode (Big Team Battle), 48 new REQ items, and some new maps. Best of all, this package–titled The Battle of Shadow and Light–is completely free.

It’s not often that large publishers and developers deliver massive amounts of content for free, so it’s important to applaud such behavior. Big Team Battle will also be making an already diverse multiplayer experience that’s much more varied. This mode will be 8 vs. 8, and will have 4 new maps built specifically for this mode.

This may be a calculated move by Microsoft and the development team to keep the multiplayer audience engaged in their game since so many new shooters–like Battlefront–just hit the market. Still, this is an amazing way of rewarding the loyal community.

Dungeons & Dragons in VR.

Soon, we’ll all be able to nerd out playing Dungeons & Dragons in virtual reality. This really is the future. The good people of AltspaceVR have teamed up with Wizards of the Coast to make this a reality. The experience will sort of be like a playing split-screen, with avatars surrounding a game mat. When you enter this bold new future, you’ll also be able to choose your d20, and even set the mood with your music. It really does seem like it will be a virtual hang-out. Feast your eyes on the clip above.

I wonder what Vin Diesel thinks about playing using a VR headset?

Rocket League: Chaos Run coming in December.

The surprise hit of the year, Rocket League, will be getting even more content come December. Psyonix (developers of said game) has announced Rocket League: Chaos Run, which will introduce the post-apocalypse onto the pitch. This paid DLC will include a bevy of goodies which you can check out below.

  • 2 New Battle-Cars, Ripper and Grog
  • 12 New Decals (six for each new Battle-Car)
  • 2 New Paint Types (Camo and Sun-Damaged)
  • 2 New Wheels (Ripper and Grog)
  • 2 New Rocket Trails (Sandstorm, Nuts and Bolts)
  • 3 New Toppers (Boombox, Cow Skull, Mohawk)
  • 3 New Antennas (Bomb Pole, Radioactive, Retro Ball – Wasteland)
  • 5 New Trophies

There will also be a free arena released called, Wasteland. All of the above content will amazingly only set you back $3.99. I know how much people love this game–including many here at Nerdist HQ– so this is pretty awesome. You can watch the full trailer above.

That’s another great Wednesday in the books, folks. Make sure to keep it here for more video game coverage, and all of your nerdy needs. Have you lost someone to Fallout 4? Have you been obsessed with the game yourself? Let us know in the comments below.
