Gaming Daily: Destiny to Receive Microtransactions

What’s up everybody? I hope you all had a fun-filled weekend. I was able to get a fair amount of gaming in, so I’d say mine was a success. Anyways, now that we’ve all gotten enough time to relax, it’s time to get back to work and report on some of the day’s news. In today’s Gaming Daily, Ubisoft is using a livestream to tease a new caveman-filled game, Microsoft released yet another live-action Halo 5: Guardians trailer, Destiny is getting microtransactions, DICE reveals more about Star Wars: Battlefront beta and Halloween content is on its way to Rocket League.

Tess of Everis Destiny

Microtransactions coming to Destiny

In a post over on the Bungie Blog, the developer revealed that Tess Everis will be making a return to the tower on Tuesday, October 13. Additionally, they revealed that with her reappearance, they’ll be introducing a new feature to the game. As I’m sure you already guessed by my subheader, they’re adding microtransactions.

When Everis returns, she’ll bring a new storefront, featuring brand new items including 18 new emotes. The way to get your hands on said items will be to purchase the new “Silver” currency using your own hard earned dinero. The developer stresses that the emotes are “completely optional, and won’t impact the action game in any way.”

They noted, “Our plan is to use these new items to bolster the service provided by our live team for another full year, as they grow and create more robust and engaging events that we’ll announce later this year. It has been, and continues to be, our goal to deliver updates to the game. Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests.”

Bungie will be dropping free silver to player’s accounts next week, so be on the lookout for that if you’re interested.

Microsoft Releases new Halo 5: Guardians TV spot

Well that didn’t take long. After releasing a rather somber live-action trailer last week, the folks at Xbox have released yet another tv-spot for 343 Industries’ upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. Ubisoft Game Tease Far Cry Primal

Ubisoft is teasing a new game which is rumored to be prehistoric Far Cry game.

Ubisoft is no stranger to mysterious game teases. Earlier this year, they spent a ton of time teasing what we now know to be Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Now it looks like the Far Cry series might be getting some love. The developer has been hosting a livestream all day featuring an ever-changing cave drawing. Though the company has yet to announce what it is, there are rumors, including an unconfirmed leak by IGN Turkey, that suggest the title is indeed a pre-historic entry in the Far Cry series.

The only remnant we have of the leak–that’s of course been taken down–is the image above, which was screencapped by one of NeoGAF’s users. In the original tweet, the site noted that the image was one of the first looks at Far Cry Primal.

All of this is heresay at the moment, but it seems the general consensus as of now is that the announcement is related to the Far Cry franchise. As we already mentioned, the stream keeps changing. While the initial image on screen was only of a primal man wielding a bow, it now includes things like Saber Tooth Tigers, Mammoths, Owls, an more. Whatever it is, we can’t wait to hear more.

DICE says Star Wars: Battlefront won’t have microtransactions, and reveals more info about upcoming beta.

Speaking of microtransactions, you know which game won’t have any? Star Wars: Battefront. If you know anything about EA, you’ll know how important this revelation is. While the game features a two-tier currency program, Battlefront’s Design Director Niklas Fegraeus ensured fans that microtransactions won’t be included in the game. Additionally, the developer also revealed more details about the upcoming beta, which is set to run from October 8-12. Rocket League Halloween

Halloween-themed content coming to Rocket League for limited time.

Ah, we’ve finally made it to October. As we inch closer and closer to the 31, developers take advantage of the season to announce Halloween-themed content–and we’re not complaining. The folks behind Rocket League revealed today that starting October 18, the following six items will be available as post-game rewards: the calavera, fuzzy brute, and fuzzy vampire antennas; pumpkin topper; carriage wheels; and candy corn rocket trail.

As with most holiday content, it will only be available for a limited time. So, you’ll have until November 2 to get your hands on some sweet spooky swag.

The new items will be made available through a free update for the game. If you’re looking for more, the $4 Revenge of the Battle-Cars DLC pack will be launching a few days earlier October 13.
