Gaming Daily: Akira Yamaoka bringing Silent Hill to Live Audiences

The holiday hangovers were in abundance today as many folks got off to a slow start on this short week. Gaming news, however, is only beginning to pick up as we move deeper into the gaming season, and we’re back to keep you up to speed on the industry’s latest developments. In today’s Gaming Daily, Akira Yamaoka is bringing Silent Hill music to live audiences in the UK, Heroes of the Storm gets another character addition, Konami warns players of save-corrupting in Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, and we weigh in on Jimmy Kimmel’s comments on video game streaming.

Listen to some live Silent Hill music

A night of the scariest music ever heard is on its way to the United Kingdom. Legendary Video Game Composer Akira Yamaoka is bringing his classic Silent Hill scores to the stage. Yamaoka and a live band will be heading out on a brief tour, completely themed around Halloween. The tour dates are as follows:

No word on if we’ll being seeing this in the UK any time soon, unfortunately. I almost want to go just to see the Silent Hill-inspired getups that attendees are sure to don. Silent Hill 2 had one of the best soundtracks in any survivial horror game to date, and will definitely make for an entertaining night of music whether you played the franchise or not.

Metal Gear Solid 5 Quiet FEAT 05112015

PSA: There’s a Metal Gear Solid V Bug that will corrupt your game save.

While you’re deeply immersed in farming and building your Motherbase empire, you may want to take note of a save-corrupting error that players have been experiencing. Konami reported this morning that bringing Quiet along for the ride in missions 29 and 40 can result in your game save being corrupted. Best tread lightly when choosing to deploy on missions with her as your buddy– you wouldn’t want all of that hard work to go up in flames, would you?

Rexxar available in Heroes of the Storm

The newest contender is stepping into the Nexus starting today in Heroes of the Storm. Rexxar, whom you may know from the wonderful World of Warcraft, is a a half-ogre, half-orc beast master who plays the ranged warrior role on the battlefield. He’s also bringing his companion bear, Misha, along to the battle as well, and she operates as an additional character players will have to manage while on the battlefield.

This new hero marks the end of the Eternal Conflict event, and it looks like we’ll start getting a mixture of characters from different franchises up until the next event comes along. I’m still holding out for the imminent Leroy Jenkins hero addition, or any of the ones mentioned on my dream list of future characters to add to Heroes of the Storm. Make it happen Blizzard!

We weigh in on Jimmy Kimmel’s livestreaming comments.

There’s something about back to school time that gets some of these gamers quite grouchy. Even comedians have to tread lightly when jesting about different aspects of video game culture. Jimmy Kimmel learned this the hard way after taking several comedic jabs at video game livestreaming, and on this week’s Nerdist: Play, we responded not only to Jimmy Kimmel’s comments, but to the detractors who have been sending death threats his way in response. Did Kimmel deserve the backlash he received? Check out our thoughts on the matter in the link below.
